Credentials

  • Registered Architect, State of California No. 22577.
  • Member of the National, State and Orange County Chapter of the American Institute of Architects.
  • Registered Volunteer Emergency Disaster Service Worker, State of California.
  • Polytechnic University of Madrid, Spain. Architect Certification Program (4+2 year program). Postgraduate studies in Urbanism. Special courses in Artistic Representation.

Continuing Education
Every year attending registered architectural seminars to fulfill the continuing education requirements to maintain membership in the American Institute of Architects.

Experience
1989 to present:  Sydney V.P. Head AIA, Architect, an independent architectural firm.
Dedicated exclusively to the design of Custom Residential Architecture, based in Newport Beach.
Experience and excellent reputation with all Neighborhood Associations and the City of Newport Beach Building and Planning Departments.

1986 to 1989: Director of Architectural Design for Pulaski Arita Architects, Newport Beach.
Main projects under my responsibility:
South Shores Baptist Church, Laguna Niguel, California.
Transamerica Parking and Retail Center - a major structure downtown Los Angeles covering one full city block adjacent to the Transamerica Headquarters building.
Various luxurious residential projects in Newport Beach. 

1984 to 1986: Senior Architectural Designer for Langdon Wilson Mumper Architects, Newport Beach. Main projects:
The Pacific Club, Newport Beach. Re-design and expansion.
Design and construction drawings for various high-rise office buildings in the Newport Beach / Irvine Downtown Business Center.

1980 to 1984: Senior Architectural Designer for GPRA Architects, Irvine. Main Projects:
USC West Dining Hall designed for the LA Olympic Games and as a major campus dining facility.
Santa Ana Transportation Terminal for the OC Transit Authority, downtown Santa Ana.
Saint Paul Greek Orthodox Church on Alton Boulevard, Irvine, California.

Before moving to California and after completing my education, I practiced in Madrid, Spain.
Besides self-employed commissions, which were mainly large residential projects, I worked in multidisciplinary architectural offices in Madrid.
Main projects of these years are the dissection through detailed hand drawings of a 12 century cathedral for the Ministry of Culture. Wining design of a national competition, for a major chain Hotel in the city of Segovia in the outskirts of Madrid (Paradores Nacionales).

Personal:
Moved to Newport Beach, California from Madrid, Spain in 1980.
Married to Nancy, with three children: Sydney Jr., Alexandra and Daniel.
As the son of my British diplomat father (my mother was from Spain), I lived with my family in different countries through the early years of my life. Also, while living in Spain, I traveled extensively throughout Europe.
